“You can tell who the strong women are. They are the ones you see building one another up instead of tearing each other down.”
I have a client who I LOVE working with. Although she has been a heavy hitter in her industry for years, she is just starting to get her toes wet with marketing. We have a little dance: I suggest something outside of her comfort zone and she thinks about it for a second, then we start getting to work. She has some big goals for 2015 and this means there's very little time for hanging out in comfort zones.
One of our goals wouldn't get past the gate and serendipitously last week I was in when Lauren from Lolo LLC. popped in. We all got to chatting and BOOM! A week later Bridget: with DeerCircus (an accomplished blogger/photog) and Lauren show up to share their talent and vision to bring Julia to the next level.
I spent the morning with a group of women who came together in collaboration of talent to help Julia and it's pretty spectacular. Her clients volunteered for photos and the place was buzzing with energy. Marketing is so much more than the bottom line. It's relationships and the people you meet that help you tell your story. It's knowing that the right people show up when they're supposed to and trusting that it will all come together in a perfectly unscripted way.
I don't have the time or resources to get everything done on my own. This industry is full of talented, amazing people. We all have something to offer and something to learn. I admit, it's challenging for me to see such young, vibrant, talented women with the world at their finger tips and not compare myself or measure myself against their success. But it is so empowering to see what we can do when we work together.
The collaboration continues as we work with Whitney Gustafson Photography and Jamie Hevlin with 9th Street Designs to get Julia Lacy Enterprises on her way. Thank you all for sharing your time, your talent, and your energy. Together we accomplish so much more than I ever could have on my own.
