Serendipity

She believed she could, so she did
— R.S. Grey

Some clients find you, others you track down and beg them to let you work with them.  This is one of those stories.

I was scrolling on Facebook one afternoon and noticed a friend liked a post from a page (JennyWear Jewelry) for custom jewelry.  I was curious and started to look a little deeper.  I loved what I was seeing and she was local. I went to her website and started to dig.  The icing on the cake was her handwriting charms.  I needed one for me, but every mother, grandmother, or parent in the world needs one too.  The marketer in me started to swirl with ideas of partnerships and connections for this company.

Serendipitously I walked into my yoga studio one day to drop something off and Jenny was sitting there waiting to teach a class.  I introduced myself and when she said her name I think I may have shrieked with joy and recognition.  How amazing is it that she worked in the same studios I work and practice in?!?  What's even more amazing that we had never met.

That's how I met Jenny.

I promptly got in touch with her and our work begin.  I started by asking her if I could do some postings of the necklace she made me.  I think she was stunned.  She kept (and keeps) asking "Where did you come from?".  We started slow and as my efforts started to work, the excitement started to grow.  We graduated quickly to re-branding and logo with Jamie Hevlin of 9th Street Design, a new website (coming in March 2015), Facebook ads, list building, social management, and anything else we could think of.  It has happened fast, but everything we touch turns to gold.

It's amazing what happens when things come together in the right moment.  She has been so open to possibility and to my advice.  She comes at each project with an open mind and heart.  It's extremely gratifying to watch it all come together for her.  She thinks it has something to do with me, but I disagree.  Her progress, her success, her dream all comes alive because of the way she approaches things.  She was ready to add this piece to her business and somehow we got pushed together, which I am eternally grateful for.

She was an engineer who dropped the career to chase a passion.  For 10 years she grew a small business out of a 10x10 space in her home.  As the growth happened she responded with grace and solutions.  She has support of family and loved ones who chip in to build this business.  The table she creates on is an old door her husband made into a work space. The kids love to help and their little life marks in forms of markers and drawings are all over the space, which shows this business is a part of their childhood.

Neighbors buff charms and drill holes to help Jenny so she can spend her time on the important stuff.  Friends tell people about her when they travel and her work is in boutiques across the country.  Other friends help package during busy times.  There are a million other people who contributed along the way and I am certain they all feel exactly as I do about her.  We are lucky to have the opportunity to share in this journey.

Her story is inspiring for so many reasons and it comes through as a feeling in everything she touches.  The point is that people are drawn to Jenny and her magic is everywhere.  She is charmed and it's so fitting that she makes charms.  Selfishly, I hope my work with her continues long after the new site is up and she is social media stable because her light is contagious.  It is empowering to see what someone can create.  Most importantly, she is an authentic person who isn't trying to do something because she should.  "She believed she could, so she did".

Jenny, thank you for allowing me into your space to share and contribute to your story.  Every time we meet I see a new layer and I think you are amazing.  I wish you could see what I see.  It would blow your mind.
